Registering for a Test

Registering for a test is a two-step process of creating an account and booking a test, using the Pearson VUE registration system.

Before You Begin

Are you a returning candidate?

If you created an account in a previous year (regardless of whether you sat the test or not) please refer to this important information for Returning Candidates before proceeding.

Do you need financial help?

If you are based in the UK, you can apply for a bursary to cover the full test fee. Once your Bursary Application is approved you will be given a voucher code to use when booking your test.

Require Access Arrangements?

Some candidates may require certain access arrangements for their test due to learning difficulties, physical disabilities or medical conditions. Where this is the case, you should ensure you apply for these before booking your test.

Set up your Pearson VUE account as soon as possible

Create a UAT-UK account with Pearson VUE
  • Register with your legal name

All new candidates will need to make a UAT-UK account with Pearson VUE before you can book a test.

You must register with your legal name, as it appears on the photo ID you intend to present when you sit your test.

You should refer to our ID Policy.

As well as your name and contact information, you will be asked to provide demographic, and educational data. This is collected for research purposes only and is part of UAT-UK’s commitment to minimising bias for certain sub-groups.

  • Receive your account details

Pearson VUE will email you to confirm your username and that your account has been set up. This may take up to 24 hours. You will be given a temporary password.

  • Note your UAT-UK candidate ID

Once you receive confirmation of your account setup, you can then log into your account and change your password. You will also be able to view your UAT-UK candidate ID at the top of the navigation bar, on the left-hand side, under your name. Your candidate ID will have the format UATUK######.

You will need to quote this when contacting Pearson VUE customer services or the UAT-UK office regarding any matters relating to your test.

Please ensure your full name appears correctly.

Book a test

  • Login into your account

Access your UAT-UK account on Pearson VUE using the username and password you set up. You will then be able to book either the ESAT or the TMUA from your dashboard.

  • Find a test location

Each test can be booked on one of two days, at any available appointment slot. The earlier you book, the more chance you have of getting the appointment you want at your local test centre.

Both the ESAT and TMUA are delivered in Pearson VUE test centres around the world. You will be able to search for your nearest test centre using Pearson VUE’s test centre locator which will be available via your account when test booking opens.

If you are sitting in the UK and are unable to book a test within 40 miles of your home postcode (please note that this will not be possible in some remote locations), please contact the Pearson VUE customer services team via pvemeacustomerservice@pearson.com and they will work with you to find the closest available appointment.

  • Pay for your test

UAT-UK tests are charged at £75 for candidates sitting in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and £130 for candidates anywhere else in the world.

Test fees are determined by the test centre location, not on place of residence or nationality.

Your test must be paid for at the time of booking. This can be done using credit or debit cards or by a UAT-UK bursary voucher code (UK candidates only, subject to application).

If you are in one of the following countries, and do not have access to a major credit or debit card (not Switch/Maestro), you will need to contact us to pay for your test by bank transfer:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Iran, Kenya, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.

If you require access arrangements for your test (e.g. extended time for dyslexia, arrangements for impaired mobility, hearing, or vision) you shouldn’t book your test online. Please refer to our Access Arrangements Policy instead.

All bookings will be confirmed by email.
